One of the severe mental disorders found throughout the world is schizophrenia, described as a strange, foolish and dangerous individual. The family has an important role in determining the way out or the necessary care of patients at home, and the family has a positive attitude or awareness that is able to encourage patients minimizing the relapses. The purpose of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between the roles of the family in the treatment of schizophrenic patients with relapses in the Public Health Center of Abiansemal I. The study is categorized as a descriptive correlational research with the cross-sectional approach method. The number of the sample was 85 respondent families who were taken by using a technique of non-probability sampling with the saturated sampling. The data were collected by giving questionnaires to the respondents about the role of the family in the care of patients with schizophrenia and patients relapse. The technique of data analysis in this study was processed by using Spearman Rank correlation test, with (a) 0.05, and the result obtained was p value = <0.001. It can be concluded from the results of research that there is a significant relationship between the roles of the family in the care of patients with relapses in schizophrenia found at Public Health Center of Abiansemal I in 2015. From the results of the study, it is expected that the family should give more attention to the treatment of schizophrenic patients at home and they can reduce their busy works, and more focus on treating the patient as well as provide encouragement to minimize the relapses.
